Alrahma set for Park test
Freddy Head says there’s “every chance” he’ll run his unbeaten filly Alrahma in the £180,000 Connolly’s RED MILLS Cheveley Park Stakes at Newmarket.
Freddy Head: Targeting Cheveley Park Stakes with unbeaten filly
A total of 47 entries have been made for the Group One contest and the daughter of Shamardal, winner of the Group Three Prix de Cabourg at Deauville ten days ago, forms part of a strong overseas challenge which also includes runaway Queen Mary winner Lady Aurelia.
Head said: “She has run twice and won twice and there is absolutely every chance that she will take part in the Connolly’s RED MILLS Cheveley Park Stakes.
“I think that she is a very good filly and she is improving all the time. She was still not at the top of her game last time but every day she is getting better and better.
“I cannot see why there would be any problem for her at Newmarket, the six furlongs and uphill finish should be fine. She is a very easy filly who can do anything.”
“Before then I am going to run her in the Prix Morny and I am not afraid of anybody there or in Newmarket.
“Alrahma is smallish but she is powerful and very good in her mind. I trained her dam, Albaraah, who was not at all precocious but won a nine furlong Listed race at the end of her three year-old season.”
“Alrahma undoubtedly has much more speed than her mother so, although there is plenty of stamina in her pedigree, I am happy to keep her at six furlongs for the moment.”
