ALTIOR, last season's Supreme Novices' Hurdle winner, will not make his eagerly awaited chase debut at Cheltenham on Sunday, with trainer Nicky Henderson preferring to wait until Kempton later in the month.

The six-year-old, unbeaten in five over hurdles, was entered for the Grade 2 Racing Post Arkle Trophy Trial Novices' Chase, but did not feature among the final declarations on Friday.

Henderson tweeted: "Altior will not run on Sunday, instead he'll go to Kempton on November 21 ahead of a possible tilt at the Henry VIII at Sandown."

Six have been declared for the Arkle Trophy Trial Novices' Chase, and Henderson will still have a runner in the race with Hammersly Lake.

Henry de Bromhead has two chances, Some Plan and Three Stars, with Flying Angel, Lake Prezien and Mick Thonic completing the field.

Only three take on Thistlecrack

Timico Gold Cup favourite Thistlecrack will have his first experience of the Cheltenham fences on Saturday, when facing three rivals.

Colin Tizzard's stable star, who was hugely impressive at Chepstow last month, takes on Aqalim, Ballycross and Marinero in a 3m novices' chase.

The unbeaten Winter Escape is a best-priced 11-4 shot for Sunday's Greatwood Hurdle. Alan King's five-year-old faces 16 rivals, including Modus, Wolf Of Windlesham and A Hare Breath.
