Appleby eyeing Ascot for Boynton
Charlie Appleby could pitch Boynton into top-level company for the first time in his career in the St James's Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot.
Although the three-year-old holds an entry in the Irish 2,000 Guineas, the Newmarket handler is looking towards making the mile Group One on June 20 his starting point.
After backing up his debut win with victory in the Superlative Stakes on his second start, the son of More Than Ready lost his unbeaten record when finishing second in the Vintage Stakes at Goodwood on what was to be his final start of the season.
Appleby said: "Boynton is in good order and is back in full work now. I am pleased with the way he is training. We might look towards the St James's Palace Stakes with him.
"I didn't do too much during the course of the winter. I've been conservative with him because I just feel that as we have missed the Guineas. He is a horse I don't want to push too hard too soon as he has six months of racing ahead of him."
