Arm injury for Ben Curtis
Ben Curtis was taken to hospital with an arm injury following a nasty incident at Thirsk.
Ben Curtis was injured in a fall at Thirsk
Curtis was aboard the William Haggas-trained In The City in the Personal Touches Handicap, the fourth race on the card, when he was unshipped as his mount collided with the rail at the rear of the eight-runner field.
Haggas' wife and assistant Maureen was at Kempton, where she said: "It looks like Ben has broken his arm.
"Sadly the horse has been put down as he broke a shoulder.
"It is a shame for the owners and the girl who rides him every day, as she will be in bits."
Curtis had earlier enjoyed much better fortune when steering Nordic Combined (22-1) to victory for Brian Ellison in the Market Cross Jewellers Nursery.
