Caulfield: Hyland Race Colours Underwood Stakes (Group 1) 1m1f, 3yo+
BLACK HEART BART (Darren Weir/Brad Rawiller) continued his march towards a spring carnival appointment with Winx in winning the Group 1 Underwood Stakes at Caulfield.
Expected to be given his chance against Winx in next month's WS Cox Plate, Black Heart Bart eased some doubts about his middle-distance prowess with a clear-cut win.
The Darren Weir-trained galloper easily defeated He Or She with NSW mare Lucia Valentina making late ground for a promising third in her return to Melbourne racing.
Weir said: "Today he was strong through the line so we'll head to the Caulfield Stakes next start and then see what happens after that I guess.
"It's going to get stronger as you head towards the Cox Plate so he needs to be running like he did today in order to think you'll be competitive with them."

Caulfield: Yulong Park Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes (Group 1 hcap) 7f, 2yo+
The waters and beach surrounds of Warrnambool have supplied another Group 1 winner early in the new season with Bon Aurum's (Kerrin McEvoy) victory at Caulfield.
Trainer Ciaron Maher said Bon Aurum's win in the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes on Saturday had a lot to do with his work at the Victorian seaside town.
This horse has taken a lot of work," Maher said. "He has spent a lot of time down with Mathew Williams at Warrnambool who has done a great job with him.
"It's a testament to the environment down there at the beach and it's great to get him back and claim a Group 1."
The Group 1 Toorak Handicap over 1m at Caulfield on October 8 is the next reported target for the winner.
Caulfield: Schwepps Thousand Guineas Prelude (Group 2) 7f, 3yo fillies
Legless Veuve (Stuart Webb/Mark Zahra) landed a betting plunge to take out an important lead-up race to a Group 1 race at Caulfield.
The Stuart Webb-trained three-year-old was backed from A$17 into A$12 in taking out the Thousand Guineas Prelude on Saturday
Zahra said: "She's still green but on her home track in two weeks time she'll be hard to beat in the Guineas."
Rosehill: Ronald McDonald House Westmead Golden Pendant (Group 2) 7f, 3yo+ f&m
It does not look like Tycoon Tara (Joshua Parr) will be off to stud any time soon with the mare racking up her third Group win from four Sydney starts in the Golden Pendant at Rosehill.
Formerly trained in Victoria, Tycoon Tara was sent to Peter and Paul Snowden to try to get a stakes win before heading to the broodmare barn.
But her latest victory over a field which included Group 1 winner First Seal is likely to delay that plan until next season.
Peter Snowden said: "This was going to be her grand final today. Every time I think that might do her, she does that. I really don't know where we will go."
