WINX (Chris Waller/Hugh Bowman) had frightened away the opposition for this Group 1, facing only two rivals, and they proved no match for the mare as she made it 12 wins in a row.
The Cox Plate and a showdown with among others Godolphin's Hartnell will provide a stiffer test, but Winx could do little more than win easily against the overmatched pair and Waller is looking forward to the rest of the Spring Carnival.
He said: "It's hard to explain, the intensity builds with a superstar horse, the expectations are there for her to win.
"I just think it's great for racing … there's some good horses coming together in the next few weeks and I think we're in for one hell of a carnival."
Black Heart Bart took the field along, and Brad Rawiller tried to make a race of it, but Bowman always had him covered, and having moved up to challenge round the final turn, he moved Winx clear in the straight under hands and heels.
Prince Of Penzance suffers serious injury
Last year's Melbourne Cup hero will not be defending his title next month, as the Darren Weir-trained star suffered a fractured leg when finishing fourth in the Herbert Power Stakes.
Weir and jockey John Allen were concerned that the horse was sore after his run in the Group 2, and further examination revealed he had fractured his off-fore.
