Bath double for Georgia Cox

News of Wednesday's action from Bath where apprentice Georgia Cox enjoyed the first double of her career.

Georgia Cox (L, orange/blue) rode the first double of her career

Jockey Georgia Cox enjoyed the first double of her career when steering Silverrica and Lapilli to victory at Bath.

The 7lb claimer got a dream run near the far rail on Silverrica (11-2) to repeat last year's success in the Dribuild Group Apprentice Training Series Handicap for trainer Malcolm Saunders.

"You can easily put a line through last time because she slipped coming out of the stalls. That was her race over," said Cox.

"This time everything went right for her. She's a grinder and just keeps going."

Cox then gave the 8-15 favourite Lapilli, trained by William Haggas, a confident ride to collar Entertaining Ben in the final half a furlong and take the honours by a neck.

"It was a bit of a funny race. I just couldn't get him into a rhythm. Hopefully he'll build on that," she said.

Lulu Stanford also struck a blow for the girls when delivering the Rod Millman-trained Eugenic (9-2 co-favourite) late to score by a neck from Tamujin in the Environmental Essentials Handicap.

Sunscape (11-2) just denied Miss Minuty in the EBF Stallions Breeding Winners Fillies' Handicap.

Fran Berry kept at Hughie Morrison's filly to grab the verdict by a head.

"She was very good in the last 100 yards," Berry, who only returned from injury a week ago, told At The Races.

"She was very tough and stuck her head out.

"That was my third winner since I came back and I'm trying to make up for lost time."

The Charlie Fellowes-trained Mia Tesoro (5-2 favourite) completed a four-timer when brought with a well-timed run by Shane Kelly in the Simon 'The Daddy' At 60 Handicap.

William Muir's Nuclear Power (4-5 favourite) stylishly made it fifth-time lucky by romping to a five-length victory in the Bath Food Festival EBF Novice Stakes under Martin Dwyer.

Captain George (12-1) got up close home under Steve Drowne to deny Lady Hare by a neck in the CB Protection Ltd Handicap and strike for trainer Michael Blake.
