Battalion conquers Quebec

Battalion made it two out of two for Jamie Osborne when winning the Listed Betway Quebec Stakes at Lingfield Park.

The six-year-old spent was twice a winner at this level during his time with William Haggas and added a third victory with relative ease under William Carson.

Brandybend, a stablemate of Grendisar, a former winner of the race, took the field along with Grendisar in last and he had all the field in trouble when kicking four lengths clear rounding the home turn.

The gaps opened for Grendisar, the 15/8 favourite, but neither he nor the well backed eventual runner-up Dubai Fashion could pick up as they straightened out.

Carson always had Battalion prominent behind the pace and he was in the perfect position to challenge and easily picked up the long-term leader, winning by a length and a half.
