Bear on the prowl at Bangor

Follow The Bear should go one better on his return to Bangor, according to Anita Chambers, who previews Thursday's racecards.

Nicky Henderson: Trains Follow The Bear

BANGOR: 12.35 Twenty Eight Guns, 1.05 Krackatoa King, 1.35 Going For Broke, 2.10 Marvellous Monty, 2.40 FOLLOW THE BEAR (NAP), 3.10 Boher Lad, 3.40 Polly's Pursuit.

CHELMSFORD: 12.50 Bois De Boulogne, 1.20 Inaam, 1.50 Yasir, 2.20 Hold Tight, 2.50 Gulland Rock, 3.20 Vogueatti, 3.50 Ferryview Place.

WOLVERHAMPTON: 1.30 Tegara, 2.00 The Daley Express, 2.30 Heiba, 3.00 Arctic Angel, 3.30 Top Set, 4.00 General Hazard, 4.30 Deftera Lad, 5.00 My Bubba.

DOUBLE: Follow The Bear and Hold Tight.

Follow The Bear hit the bar at Bangor on his debut over jumps and can go one place better in the Clwyd Special Riding Centre Novices' Hurdle back at that track.

This son of King's Theatre was hardly a cheap purchase at 55,000 euros as a foal back in 2012, but he certainly has more than a modicum of talent as he has already shown in winning one of his two point to point starts.

Sent to Nicky Henderson this season, Follow The Bear turned in an excellent effort when second last month, just being outpointed by a more experienced rival.

He could not quite pick up when required, but he should have gleaned plenty of confidence from the outing and Follow The Bear looks the one to be on here.

Twenty Eight Guns was denied victory on the line last month but can gain compensation in the Yule Log Handicap Chase.

A few sloppy jumps at Ffos Las perhaps cost her the win, but she should be able to bounce back from that.

Krackatoa King always looked the type to take quite high rank over fences but it just never happened last year and he has since left Noel Williams to join Kerry Lee.

Lee excels with this type and he could be up to defying top weight in the Equine Lens Handicap Chase.

Hold Tight can make a victorious return to action following a lengthy lay-off by landing the Weatherbys Stallion Book Conditions Stakes on a strong card at Chelmsford.

The Saeed bin Suroor-trained gelding has been off the track since finishing down the field in the Stewards' Cup at Goodwood back in July, although he had excuses for his 16th place finish that day.

Hold Tight was only actually beaten just over six lengths in a blanket finish but any chance he had of taking a hand in the result was lost when his saddle slipped with a furlong to run.

He did not look an obvious winner but he was still in there battled when his mishap occurred so it is perhaps dangerous to underestimate his abilities.

Hold Tight had previously let down favourite-backers in the Bunbury Cup consolation but he really has looked a better animal on the all-weather – as evidenced by his one win and two seconds in three outings on artificial surfaces.

A half-brother to Group One winners Airwave and Jwala, Hold Tight is bred to do the job and while his fitness must be taken on trust, he could turn out to be a classy performer in due course.

Hold Tight's owners Godolphin should also see their colours carried to glory in the opening Weatherbys Racing Diaries Maiden Stakes.

His Derby entry may prove a little fanciful, but there was much to like about his initial second at Wolverhampton earlier this month.

John Gosden's charge came from a fair way back and while the more-experienced Hochfeld was half a length too good, Bois De Boulogne shaped with plenty of promise.

Inaam really hit his stride when winning at Newcastle last time and can follow up in the Beaten By A Length Free Bet Handicap.

His eager style of racing does not always pay off but he showed how good he can be when things fell right for him at Gosforth Park.

Vogueatti was a bit slow to pick up on her racecourse bow but should be sharper for the experience in the Acca Club Maiden Stakes.

Marco Botti's runner had to settle for third that day but looks more than capable of winning a race like this.

They also race on the all-weather at Wolverhampton where Top Set can finally poke his head in front in the Betway App Handicap after a string of placed efforts.
