Berry & Beckett strike in France
Fran Berry and Ralph Beckett combined to land Listed success in the Prix Scaramouche with She Is No Lady at Saint-Cloud on Wednesday.
She Is No Lady: Saint-Cloud winner
The Lope De Vega filly was bouncing back following a disappointing run in the Ebor, where she was 14th after being the subject of a major gamble that saw her go off 4/1.
Freshened up since then, her run at Saint-Cloud was her first in seven weeks and the four-year-old had to battle hard to overcome Sacrifice My Soul by a head.
Sent off as the 5/4 favourite, the sole British raider was always in a prominent position and eventually settled in third just off the lead set by Sacrifice My Soul and Fixed Rate.
Berry started to urge his mount along more vigorously on the turn for home, but the response wasn't instant as Sacrifice My Soul maintained her lead under Mickael Barzalona.
She Is No Lady battled hard, though, responding well to heavy pressure to get upsides the leader in the final furlong. Sacrifice My Soul tried hard to hang on, but Berry and She Is No Lady were not to be denied as they just got up on the line.
Iraklion stayed on for third.
