Leading rider Fran Berry faces four to six weeks on the sidelines after fracturing his foot at Lingfield on Thursday.
Fran Berry: On the sidelines for four to six weeks
His intended mount The Bear Can Fly became unruly in the stalls ahead of the opening race on the card and pinned the jockey's foot between herself and the bar of the stalls.
He limped away from the incident and having been stood down for the rest of the day, visited hospital to find out the extent of the injury.
"It's a clean fracture just at the point where you put pressure down on your foot," he told sportinglife.com.
"It's very disappointing but was a freak accident and these things happen. I'm going to see the specialist on Tuesday to get an update but at this stage it looks like I'm going to be out of action for four to six weeks."
