Big Fella Thanks retired
Tom George retired his popular veteran Big Fella Thanks after the 15-year-old was pulled up at Cheltenham on Friday evening.
After finishing third in the Aintree Foxhunters' last month despite his advancing years, he was attempting to win on the Cheltenham card for the second successive season.
Unfortunately his jockey Noel George was forced to pull him up after he appeared to go wrong but thankfully his trainer was able to give him a clean bill of health.
"Big Fella Thanks is fine," George told the Gloucestershire Echo.
"He wasn't moving right so Noel pulled him up. I think the horse just banged a joint.
"He goes into a happy retirement now with us. He has been a legend and a privilege to train."
Big Fella Thanks finished fourth in the 2010 Grand National won by Don't Push It while his biggest success was in the 2009 Sky Bet Chase when trained by Paul Nicholls.
