Bond target for Airlie Beach
Airlie Beach could put her unbeaten record on the line in the Royal Bond Novice Hurdle at Fairyhouse on Sunday week.
Willie Mullins, trainer of Airlie Beach
The Willie Mullins-trained mare has proved a real money-spinner for the Supreme Horse Racing Club, winning each of her six starts to date.
After completing a Kilbeggan hat-trick in early August, the daughter of Shantou won a conditions race at Galway before comfortably graduating to Listed class at Gowran Park.
She was made to pull out all the stops by Shattered Love in Grade Three company at Down Royal on her latest appearance, but connections feel she merits a shot at Grade One glory.
Steve Massey, racing manager for the owners, said: "She's such a tough mare and keeps improving.
"It was a very good performance at Down Royal as she was giving 7lb to the runner-up, who has run well at Punchestown since.
"For Airlie Beach to win her first six races is some achievement and to win a Grade Three was fantastic for her owners, who are living the dream.
"She's in the Royal Bond and while we'll leave it to Willie to decide where she goes, that is very high on the agenda.
"It wouldn't be easy taking on the boys, but she deserves her entry with a mark of 140 and she'd get the mares allowance, obviously."
