Through The Card: Chepstow, Tuesday May 16
17:40 – SUPER FLORENCE (8) chased home a subsequent winner when fourth on her racecourse debut at Brighton two weeks ago and is entitled to improve with that initial experience under her belt. She already sets the standard on form and can open her account with a defeat of May Remain in this first leg of the Placepot.
18:10 – VALLEY OF ROCKS (4) showed ability in both starts as a juvenile and has been gelded over the winter. He looks very much the type to do better as his stamina is drawn out this term and is fancied to make a successful start to his three-year-old campaign. Evening Hill is a likely improver on the back of his Kempton debut over the winter and heads the dangers.
18:40 – OVERHAUGH STREET (11) shaped better than the bare result when fourth on his debut for the Ed de Giles yard at Newcastle in March, forced to deliver his challenge away from the principals and doing extremely well in the circumstances to be beaten less than two lengths. He showed enough to suggest he will remain competitive from this mark and makes most appeal with the Placepot in mind, with that first outing for 10 months likely to bring about some improvement.
19:10 – SHOWMETHEWAYAVRILO (3) hasn't put his best foot forward in his first two starts of the current campaign, but was consistent for the most part in 2016 and could be the answer to this open-looking contest if returning to form. He is joined in the Placepot by INDIAN AFFAIR (8), who went agonisingly close to snapping his losing run at Wolverhampton last time and should play a hand if arriving in the same mood here.
19:40 – DORA'S FIELD (1) was disappointing when down the field on her final three starts of the latest campaign, but may have been revitalised by a change of yards and can now race off the same mark as when second at Beverley in July. She showed improved form when beaten just a head that day and the form could hardly worked out better, with the third and fourth both winning their next starts. She looks sure to be thereabouts if reproducing that level of form here and can overcome a seven month absence from the track to belatedly get off the mark.
20:10 – LONDON MASTER (4) showed much improved form when dead-heating on his handicap debut at Wolverhampton last month and remains potentially very well-treated from just 5 lb higher in the weights here. He has to enter calculations for Placepot purposes, a comment that also applies to AMERICAN PATROL (8), who was a ready winner of his penultimate outing at Wolverhampton and may have found the race coming too soon when disappointing at Kempton just nine days later.
20:40 – ARISTOCRACY (8) hasn't shown much over hurdles or on the Flat of late, but is beginning to look well treated on the form he was capable of earlier in his career and might be worth chancing on his first outing for new trainer Fergal O'Brien.
