Carr outlines Debt options
Trainer Ruth Carr is considering options at home and abroad for stable star Sovereign Debt.
The eight-year-old, formerly trained by the late Dandy Nicholls, has been in tremendous form since joining Carr this season, winning the All-Weather Mile at Lingfield on Good Friday, the bet365 Mile and Sandown and the Diomed Stakes at Epsom.
He was only fifth in the Summer Mile at Ascot last month, but Carr is hoping he can secure further riches in the coming weeks.
"He's in great form and we've a few options coming up for him," said the Stillington-based trainer..
"There are two races at York, the Strensall Stakes over a mile on the Saturday and the seven-furlong race on the Friday (City of York Stakes), which is actually worth a lot more money.
"We've also given him an entry in Turkey. It's a Group Two over a mile (Topkapi Trophy) and it's worth proper money.
"If he goes there, that will probably mean we'll miss York, so we'll see.
"There are also races at Haydock (Superior Mile) and Leopardstown (Boomerang Stakes), so we have plenty of options and we'll see how we go in the next couple of weeks.
"Whatever happens he doesn't owe anybody anything.
"He's been the horse of a lifetime for the owners, and for me."
