Celebration for Connection
Dutch Connection will step back up in distance on his next start following last weekend's creditable effort in the Prix Maurice de Gheest.
Dutch Connection could return to Goodwood for the Celebration Mile
Having impressed over seven furlongs in the Lennox Stakes at Glorious Goodwood, the Charlie Hills-trained four-year-old lined up at Deauville as a major contender for a Group One event run over just half a furlong shorter.
While he was not disgraced, Dutch Connection was ultimately found wanting, passing the post in fifth place, and he is likely to return to a mile in preparation for an appearance at the Breeders' Cup at the start of November.
Hills said: "Thankfully he's come out of the race well and I think we found out he's not a sprinter.
"I don't think the draw was too clever and just the way the race panned out, it took the race away from us, but I still think he ran with great credit.
"We will look for some mile races on turning tracks. He's been left in the Celebration Mile at Goodwood, but if the ground came up on the quick side, we'd look at the Prix du Moulin.
"The main priority at the moment is the Breeders' Cup Mile and we'll try to work back from there."
