Chaloner was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary for further assessment and reports he has broken his foot as well as suffering a suspected fractured vertebrae.
He tweeted: "Thanks for all the kind messages. Getting settled in Newcastle Hospital for a day or two. Suspected fractured T8 and a broken foot."
The incident was a particularly cruel bit of fortune for all concerned, as Chaloner was having his first ride of 2017, having broken his collar bone in November. In late 2015 he also broke his foot and ankle in an accident on the gallops.
