Champions Day option for Quest
Roger Charlton is "keeping an open mind" regarding whether to let Saturday's Prix du Cadran hero Quest For More make a swift reappearance at Ascot on Champions Day.
Quest For More (r) could put in a quick reappearance
Winner of the Lonsdale Cup at York in August before being narrowly denied by Sheikhzayedroad in last month's Doncaster Cup, the six-year-old got back on the winning trail with a determined success on the opening day of Arc weekend at Chantilly.
The Qipco British Champions Long Distance Cup is less than a fortnight away, but Charlton is not ruling out a tilt at the two-mile Group Two.
"I was really pleased and his last three races particularly have been pretty faultless really," said the Beckhampton handler.
"He's been very tough and brave and I would imagine his rating will go up again for winning yesterday, he's improving.
"He came back last night and he's fine this morning.
"I'm keeping an open mind about it (Ascot). Before yesterday I was sort of thinking it was either/or, but we'll see how he is nearer the time.
"I think there's another race back in France for him the week after Ascot (Prix Royal Oak at Saint-Cloud, October 23), but the ground will probably be soft by then.
"Ascot is probably the most realistic target if we feel it's the right thing to do."
