CLARES ROCKET, the star Irish greyhound stolen from the kennels of trainer Graham Holland, was found "safe and well" according to Garda on Wednesday morning, with a relieved Holland confirming: "The dog is back safe and sound, we are delighted and can only thank the local Garda for their hard work."

Four men have been arrested and are currently in Tipperary and Clonmel Garda stations being interviewed. According to a Garda spokesman they can be detained for 24 hours. They must then be either charged or released, and a file would be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions.

"These fellows normally don't talk much, so it is likely to go down the DPP route," said the spokesman.

Clares Rocket, currently the second-favourite for the 2017 English Derby, went missing from Holland's kennels in Golden, Tipperary, taken either Sunday night or Monday morning.

It is understood Holland, an Englishman who has been hugely successful since switching to train in Ireland, was returning from holiday at the time the dog was stolen.

Clares Rocket, who is owned by a Limerick syndicate, was the ante-post favourite for the BoyleSports Irish Derby this year, but was withdrawn with an injury after finishing second in the first round.
