Cromwell maps out Jer’s Girl options

Gavin Cromwell has revealed that stable star Jer's Girl is on course to return to action early next month.

Jer's Girl: Will make seasonal reappearance soon

The dual Grade One winner, who propelled her trainer into the limelight at Fairyhouse and Punchestown last season, has a choice of targets at Down Royal and Naas in early November.

Cromwell admits, however, that races against her own sex are limited in the early part of the season for the four-year-old.

"She'll probably either go to Down Royal for their big meeting or Naas the following weekend," said Cromwell.

"There is a second season novice at Down Royal and a four-year-old only race at Naas. It will probably be one of them.

"After that I don't really know what direction she is going to go. She doesn't qualify for any of the mares' races this side of Christmas because she is a Grade One winner.

"The mares' race (at Cheltenham) looks an obvious long-term target.

"JP McManus has Ivanovich Gorbatov as well. I'm sure he'll probably go the Champion Hurdle route and I'm sure he'll try and keep them apart.

"Whether she could step up in trip and go further – I'm not sure. We just have to wait and see what way the season goes."
