Debuchet has Cheltenham option
Mags Mullins is no hurry to decide whether Debuchet will be aimed at the Weatherbys Champion Bumper following his smooth victory at Leopardstown on Sunday.
Last year's Champion Bumper finish
The four-year-old is on offer at odds as low as 16-1 for Cheltenham after he confirmed the impression of his debut second to see off old rival Le Richebourg by six and a half lengths.
However, Mullins will wait to see how the horse is before deciding on the next move.
"I think he's smart and he's improving the whole time," said the County Kilkenny trainer.
"I'm not sure yet what we're going to do. We'll see how it plays out and how he comes on.
"If he's forward enough he might go to Cheltenham, if he's not he won't. We haven't decided yet. We'll let him tell us.
"We'll give him a week but he came out of his race very well."
Mullins revealed Martello Tower was found to be suffering from an infection following a below-par display at Naas on Saturday.
The nine-year-old was a distant fifth to Anibale Fly in the Woodlands Park 100 Club Novice Chase.
He had only been beaten three-quarters of a length by that horse on his chasing debut at Navan in November, before opening his account over fences at Fairyhouse the following month.
"He had an infection after the race. It was a disappointing run so we had his bloods done and they didn't come up perfect," she said.
"We'll give time and think again. It's not serious.
"He is a nice horse and maybe he's not good enough to go to the next step, but I think we are."
