Defense fuels Head Classic dreams

Criquette Head-Maarek is dreaming of Classic success next year with National Defense.

National Defense winning at Chantilly

The Chantilly-based trainer will look at both the Qipco 2000 Guineas and the Poule d'Essai des Poulains (French 2000 Guineas) for her Group One-winning colt.

The son of Invincible Spirit will go into his winter quarters following his convincing all-the-way win in the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere at Chantilly on Sunday.

"He came out of the race very well. He's a nice horse," she said.

"I think we are going to rest him until next year. He's got nothing to prove. He's won his won his Group One.

"There will be plenty of races for him at around a mile. We'll look at the English and French Guineas."
