MIDTERM will miss the Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe with Khalid Abdullah's Juddmonte team set to rely on New Bay in Sunday's big race.
One-time Derby favourite Midterm had been a 33-1 chance after going down by a neck to Japan's Arc hope Makahiki in the Prix Niel on his first start since the Dante Stakes in May.
Owner Khalid Abdullah's racing manager Teddy Grimthorpe said on Monday: "New Bay will run in the Arc, but not Midterm.

"Midterm is fine and worked nicely on Saturday. We are considering some options at the moment. Having come back from injury we have to give him every chance to get on track really well."
Midterm missed the Derby after suffering a stress fracture in the run up to the race.
'Really good form'
The Andre Fabre-trained New Bay, who finished third in last year's Arc, will head into this year's race at Chantilly on the back of a solid fourth in the Irish Champion Stakes.
"He ran really well in Ireland, we were delighted with him," Grimthorpe said. "He's come back from there in really good form and worked nicely since so we couldn't be more pleased. Vincent Cheminaud will ride."
Favourite Postponed hardened over the weekend to a top-priced 2-1 after France's leading hope La Cressonniere was ruled out on Sunday night.
The absence of the unbeaten French filly will not result in a change of plan for unbeaten British filly So Mi Dar with owner Lord Lloyd Webber's racing manager Simon Marsh confirming on Monday she remained on course for the Prix de l'Opera.
