Discipline back from break

Discipline bids to take another step up the ladder as she returns from a mid-summer break in the Denny Cordell Lavarack & Lanwades Stud Fillies Stakes at Gowran on Sunday.

Dermot Weld: Trainer of Discipline.

Dermot Weld's charge began her career in fine style with a wide margin success at the track back in April before giving Bocca Bociata a scare in Listed company on just her second start at the venue.

She went on to score at that level when claiming the Oaks Trial at Naas a couple of months later and now bids to add a Group Three victory to her CV.

It is no surprise that she was given a break after her early season exploits and there looks to be plenty more to come from the full-sister to former stable stalwart Famous Name.

"She won a Listed race last time out at Naas. She's probably been waiting a little bit for some cut in the ground," said Teddy Grimthorpe, racing manager to owner Khalid Abdullah.

"It looks like she's got it and she's in good form going into the race.

"As for possible future plans, it's very much a question of seeing how she does."

She faces some experienced older rivals in the extended nine-furlong contest and Laganore holds the top mark of 103 in the field.

Tony Martin's charge was turned over at a short price on her most recent outing at Tipperary but was off the track for almost three months prior to that run and may be sharper now.

The daughter of Fastnet Rock had been fourth in Group Three company at Haydock in late May, having been a very impressive winner in handicap company at Navan previously.

Two British raiders add spice to the race and the Marco Botti-trained Aljazzi looks the best of the pair.

She was making her first start since finishing mid-division in the Qipco 1000 Guineas when claiming a Listed race over a mile at Haydock last month.

A step up in trip holds no fears judged on her performance last time and she could make the home team work.

Sir Michael Stoute's Intimation would look to have a bit to find off a rating of 90.
