Doncaster plan for Blue Point
Charlie Appleby is keen to step Blue Point up to seven furlongs after identifying two potential targets at next month's St Leger meeting at Doncaster.
Blue Point (r) will step up in trip at Doncaster
Having been campaigned over six furlongs in his three starts to date the son of Shamardal will be moved up in distance for either a tilt at the At The Races Champagne Stakes or Flying Scotsman Stakes at the four-day meeting which starts on September 7.
The two-year-old was denied a hat-trick on his last start when finding only Mehmas too strong in the Richmond Stakes at Glorious Goodwood.
Appleby said: "It the first time he came under pressure in a race and we were just beaten by a more battle-hardened horse. His experience just caught us out, but it is another run under our belt.

"We are going to step him in trip now to seven furlongs and we will look at either the Flying Scotsman or the Champagne Stakes.
"Since he has got back from Goodwood he appears to have taken the race very well. At this stage we are keen to see what he can do over seven.
"He has got a very good turn of foot and we want to try utilise that over seven by getting him settled in behind and switching him off. He is an interesting horse."
