Double Tips (E/W) – 24th April 2017

What is a Double

What Are Double And Treble Bets?

A ‘double’ and a ‘treble’ bet are two examples of ‘accumulator’ bets which are extremely popular with punters.

An ‘accumulator’ is a single bet that links together two or more individual wagers and is dependent on all of those wagers winning together.

The benefit of an ‘accumulator’ bet is that there are much higher payoffs than placing each individual bet separately because the likelihood of all the selections winning is much lower.

Two of the most popular accumulator bets are the ‘double’ and the ‘treble’.

Double – A double is a single bet placed on 2 different selections. Both selections must be correct for the bet to be successful.

Treble – A treble is a single bet placed on 3 different selections. All 3 selections must be correct for the bet to be successful. With either a ‘double’ or a ‘treble’ bet, if one of your selections is not correct, your payout will be zero.

Example

15:30 Cheltenham – Native River (4/1)
16:00 Cheltenham – Yanworth (11/4)
17:00 Cheltenham – Willoughby Court (16/1)

You place £10 on Native River and Yanworth to win. This is a ‘double’. If both horses win, you receive a payout of £187.50 plus a return of your £10 stake. If one of these horses fails to win, your payout would be zero.

If you added Willoughby Court to your selections you would have a ‘treble’. If all three horses win, you receive a payout of £3,187.50 plus a return of your £10 stake. If one of the three horses fails to win, your payout would be zero.

Use online betting calculators to work out what your potential winnings would be for any ‘double’ or ‘treble’ bet.

It couldn’t be easier to place an accumulator bet. By going online and using an internet based bookmaker such as Paddy Power, Bet365 or Betfair you can make your selections and then choose ‘double’ or ‘treble’ on your betslip, depending on whether you have made two or three selections.
