Douvan backed for Tingle Creek

Last season's Arkle winner Douvan has been backed into odds-on for Saturday's Betfair Tingle Creek Chase at Sandown.

Douvan has been well backed for the Tingle Creek

The historic two mile Grade One contest was re-opened for entries yesterday but the ante-post market firmly suggests that Willie Mullins' brilliant performer is set to journey to Esher.

Mullins, who came so close to winning the British Trainer's Championship last season, has had relatively few representatives in Britain thus far but could be represented by either Douvan or Un De Sceaux this weekend.

Douvan had been available at 5/1 in the early markets but sustained support has seen layers cut the brilliant six-year-old into 4/7.

Douvan has won 11 of his 12 starts with his only defeat coming on his racecourse debut in France before he joined Mullins.

He raced six times over fences in his novice season, adding victories at the Aintree and Punchestown Festivals to his success at Cheltenham in March.

Sky Bet odds: 4/7 Douvan; 4/1 Ar Mad, Sire De Grugy; 11/2 Un De Sceaux; 7/1 God's Own; 16s bar.
