Douvan well backed for Saturday’s Tingle Creek
Douvan: is six from six over fences
WILLIE MULLINS' unbeaten chaser Douvan has been cut dramatically for Saturday's Betfair Tingle Creek at Sandown, with last season's Racing Post Arkle winner a best-priced even-money favourite (from 3).
The majority of firms make him an odds-on shot, but Mullins has not confirmed the Grade 1 will be Douvan's starting point this season. He told the Racing Post on Tuesday morning: "He is fine. We have not made a decision yet."
Sponsors Betfair, who have taken evasive action by going a shortest price 4-7, reported a flood of money for the superstar chaser. Spokesman Barry Orr said: "The two-mile chasing division appears to be at the mercy of Douvan and the market suggests that the Willie Mullins-trained horse is primed for a bold show.
"We have seen a flood of money for Douvan this morning and he now looks a very likely runner. We were 5-1 earlier in the week when this did not appear to be on his radar and Un De Sceaux looked like being Willie Mullins' runner. But having seen support at 5-1 and 3-1 this morning we have taken evasive action and he is now a 4-7 shot."
