MIZZOU, winner of the last two runnings of the Group 3 Sagaro Stakes at Ascot, has been retired with connections now aiming to secure a place at stud for the five-year-old.
Trained by Luca Cumani for Jon Kelly, Mizzou developed into a high-class stayer on the Flat during his three seasons on the course with five wins from ten starts.
His finest moments came at Ascot with back-to-back wins in the Sagaro Stakes and a valiant second to Order Of St George in the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot this year.
'A brilliant horse'
Cumani said: "It's with great sadness that we announce the retirement of Mizzou from racing. A beautiful looking son of Galileo, he did us proud throughout his career with two wins in the Sagaro Stakes and a second in the Ascot Gold Cup. He has been a brilliant horse to be associated with from the very beginning.
"Mr and Mrs Kelly, who have been such fantastic and loyal supporters of British racing, now wish to find him a nice home at stud. He will be available for viewing at Bedford House during the Tattersalls sales."
Mizzou, a 275,000gns yearling, won or placed in eight of his ten starts collecting £217,208 in win and place prize-money.
