Dubai One lands Wolves qualifier
Dubai One booked her ticket for the all-weather championship finals at Lingfield on Good Friday when running out a smooth winner of the 32Red.com Conditions Stakes at Wolverhampton.
Winning trainer Saeed bin Suroor
Successful in a nursery at Newcastle on Monday, the Saeed bin Suroor-trained filly had no trouble tackling better company as she took this fast-track qualifier over five furlongs in good style.
Dubai One (11/4) showed plenty of early toe for Pat Cosgrave to get a good early position behind the pace-setting Monte Cinq.
The Godolphin-owned daughter of Exceed And Excel hit the front a furlong from home and had enough in the tank to hold off Gheedaa by half-a-length.
Sutter County, the evens favourite, was a close-up third after losing a bit of ground at the start.
"We dropped her to five from six at Newcastle as she was a bit keen before. We put a hood on the last day as well," Cosgrave told At The Races.
"We took the hood off today and that helped.
"She's all speed and a quick-turning five is up her street and she's qualified now for the big race at Lingfield.
"That race is over six and hopefully by then she'll have relaxed a little more by then, but she got the job done."
