NEWMARKET'S 7f maiden for colts and geldings on Friday sees a host of leading British-based trainers represented at 3.10pm.

Charlie Appleby sends out Rummani for his racecourse debut and the son of Dubawi hails from a family that has attained plenty of success in Italy.

Bred by Watership Down Stud out of the Italian 1m2f winner Claba Di San Jore, a Barathea half-sister to Listed scorer Clasem Di San Jore, Rummani is a half-brother to seven winners including two Italian Derby heroes.

Awelmarduk, a son of Almutawakel, won the 2007 Italian Derby and four years later the Shamardal colt Crackerjack King repeated the feat when winning the by-then downgraded Group 2 Italian Derby, before going on to claim a first Group 1 victory in the Premio Presidente della Repubblica.

In between those two performers, Claba Di San Jore's son by Storming Home, Jakkalberry, scored in the Gran Premio di Milano, one of 12 victories achieved by the horse.

Nathaniel colt can make a splash

Another colt having his first start is Splash Around, a Fittocks Stud-bred son of Nathaniel trained by Sir Michael Stoute.

A 160,000gns purchase by Charlie Gordon-Watson Bloodstock at last year's Tattersalls October Yearling Sale, he is the fourth foal produced by Splashdown, a 1m2f Listed-winning daughter of Falbrav.

All three of her previous foals have been successful, most notably the Oasis Dream colt Aktabantay who became Hugo Palmer's first Group race winner when victorious in the 2014 Group 3 Solario Stakes.

Among their opponents with the benefit of experience is the Richard Hannon-trained Warrior´s Spirit who was placed fourth on his sole start in a 6f Newbury maiden.

Out of the unplaced Foxhound mare Sandbox Two, Warrior's Spirit is a half-brother to the 2014 Group 2 International Topkapi Trophy winner and 2013 2,000 Guineas runner-up, Glory Awaits.

Daughter of Spacious out to secure first win at Newmarket

The first race on the Newmarket card, the 7f fillies' maiden at 2pm, offers the superbly bred Spatial a chance to improve upon her debut when the Sir Michael Stoute-trained daughter of New Approach finished second earlier in the month over course and distance.

A Cheveley Park Stud-homebred, Spatial is a daughter of their Group 2 May Hill Stakes and Windsor Forest Stakes winner Spacious (by Nayef) who was also runner-up in the 1,000 Guineas, Falmouth Stakes and Matron Stakes.

Precociously bred colts on display at Ffos Las

The curtain-raiser at Ffos Las features a couple of siblings to black-type winning juveniles from 2015 with Owen Burrows represented by Arzaak and William Muir sending out Cuttin' Edge in the 7f maiden at 2.10pm.

A son of freshman sire Casamento, Arzaak improved upon his debut fourth to finish three-quarters-of-a-length runner-up at Ffos Las earlier this month.

Bred by Gerard Kerin, he was acquired by Shadwell for 110,000gns at the 2014 Tattersalls December Foal Sale.

Arzaak is the second foal out of the Dixie Union mare Dixieland Kiss, an unraced half-sister to US Grade 3 winner Kiss Moon whose first foal is last season's Group 2 Lowther Stakes and Group 3 Princess Margaret Stakes heroine Besharah.

Cuttin´ Edge will be making his debut for Muir after the trainer picked up the son of Rip Van Winkle for 50,000gns at last year's Tattersalls October Yearling Sale.

Out of the seven-time 5f winner and Listed-placed How's She Cuttin', a daughter of Shinko Forest, Cuttin' Edge is a half-brother to the triple Listed scorer Washington DC, with the Aidan O'Brien-trained colt's victory in last year's Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot one of three black-type successes at the meeting for his sire Zoffany.

Hamilton hosts brother to dual European Group 1 hero

The mile maiden at Hamilton (5.55) sees Sofia's Rock having his third start for Mark Johnston who purchased the son of Rock Of Gibraltar for €100,000 at last year's Arqana August Yearling Sale.

Bred by Jean-Francois Gribomont out of the five-time winner Princess Sofia, a Pennekamp half-sister to the French Listed scorer Queen Catherine, Sofia's Rock was runner-up at Haydock on his most recent outing over a mile.

Princess Sofia has produced six foals to date, five by the seven-time Group 1 winner Rock Of Gibraltar, with Sofia's Rock being a brother to Criterium de Saint-Cloud and Grosser Preis von Baden hero Prince Gibraltar, dual winning miler and Listed-placed Princess Gibraltar and the three-time scorer Prince Of Sofia.
