Dunlop excited by Robin Of Navan
Harry Dunlop is excited to see what Robin Of Navan can achieve next season after he rounded off his campaign with an excellent run in defeat in Italy on Sunday.
Having provided his trainer with a first Group One victory in the Criterium de Saint-Cloud as a juvenile, the American Post colt headed into this season with Classic aspirations.
He made an encouraging start when runner-up in the Prix Greffulhe, but suffered injury in the French Derby and it has taken him a while to rediscover his best form.
The French-bred colt returned to the top level in the Premio Roma at Capannelle and performed admirably to fill the runner-up spot behind German raider Potemkin.
Dunlop said: "We were absolutely thrilled. He's given what looks a very good horse in Potemkin a pretty good run for his money and beaten a Group One winner in Elliptique in third.
"He was very seriously hurt in the Prix du Jockey Club. It's taken a few runs, but it's incredible we've managed to get him back to that level again.
"It's nice to end what has been a slightly frustrating year on a high and he's an exciting horse to look forward to for next season.
"I haven't really thought about where we'll start off with him.
"He'll obviously be racing in France plenty as he's eligible for the premiums, which are very lucrative for us."
