HARAS D'ETREHAM has rewarded its stallion Wootton Bassett for coming up with European champion three-year-old colt elect Almanzor from a first crop of 17 foals with a considerable fee increase for 2017.

The eight-year-old son of Iffraaj will stand at a fee of €20,000, up from just €6,000 this year.

Wootton Bassett was unbeaten at two for Richard Fahey, including in the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere.

Haras d'Etreham's Nicolas de Chambure told Jour de Galop: "The stallion had been kept at a 'first season' tarrif, despite the performances of his first two-year-olds [last year].

"We thought they would progress but we wanted to wait so that any increase would be tied to results on the track. Not many stallions have got the best horse in Europe from their first crop.

"I think that a rate of €20,000 reflects the worth of the horse while remaining commercial, and we will limit his book to 130 mares in accordance with our well-established policies at Etreham."

As well as Almanzor, winner of the Prix du Jockey Club, Prix Guillaume d'Ornano and Irish and British Champion Stakes, his small first crop of three-year-olds has yielded Group 2 Prix de Malleret third Do Re Mi Fa Sol.

Elsewhere on the Etreham roster Scissor Kick, a Group 1-placed son of influential sire of sires Redoute's Choice, has been introduced to European breeders at a fee of €10,000.

Another new face at the Normandy stud for 2017 is German sire Kamsin, who will stand at €6,000.

Former champion first-season sire Elusive City has had his price trimmed to €7,500 from €8,000.

Top jumps sire Saint Des Saints, whose sons include Djakadam, Lyreen Legend and Quito De La Roque, will stand at €15,000 in 2017, up from €12,000.

Masked Marvel's fee has been held at €3,000, while stalwart Poliglote will be looked after at the age of 25 in 2017 and cover at a private fee.
