Exeter prep for Finian’s Oscar
Colin Tizzard has hinted Grade One winner Finian's Oscar could take a drop down in class on his next start.
Finian's Oscar could be seen next at Exeter
The Milborne Port handler has earmarked an extended two-mile Listed novice hurdle at Exeter on February 12 as the potential next port of call for the five-year-old.
After making his first start in Britain a winning one at Hereford in December, the Alan and Ann Potts-owned gelding, who currently heads the market for the Neptune Investment Management Novices' Hurdle in March, made it two from two since arriving from Ireland with victory in the Tolworth at Sandown earlier this month.
Tizzard said: "I think he will run again before Cheltenham. There is a nice race at Exeter in a fortnight. He only needs one more run and that is a few weeks before the Festival.
"I would assume he is more like a two-and-a-half-miler. He doesn't seem to be stopping in his races and he is not a Flat-bred horse.
"I expect we will leave our options open, as if it came up like a bog (at the Festival) he is not slow either."
