Fabre cool over Bay’s Ascot entry
New Bay is "very unlikely" to take up his entry in the Qipco Champion Stakes at Ascot on Saturday week.
General view of Ascot
Andre Fabre's 2015 French Derby winner has recently performed respectably in two red-hot races, without hitting the heights of last year.
The four-year-old colt finished fourth behind Almanzor in the Irish Champion Stakes, considered by many to have been the race of the season, but he could only claim seventh spot in the Arc last weekend.
"New Bay didn't run as well as expected in the Arc," said Fabre.
"When it got tough at the end of the race I don't think he wanted to battle.
"I would say it is very unlikely he will run at Ascot.
"Because he had a problem early in the season and has now had three races maybe he just ran a little flat."
