Landofhopeandglory keeps unbeaten record

Bar One Racing Juvenile Hurdle (Grade 3) 2m, 3yo only

LANDOFHOPEANDGLORY now boasts a record of three wins from three starts over hurdles after extending his unbeaten jumping record with his most important victory yet.

The Joseph O'Brien-trained juvenile produced a highly professional display to see off French import Bapaume in an exciting finish to the Bar One Racing Juvenile Hurdle.

Punters could have had 10-1 about the former Ballydoyle inmate landing the JCB Triumph Hurdle prior to Sunday's Fairyhouse Grade 3 prize but now no bigger than 8-1 is available.

Yet although Landofhopeglory trades as ante-post favourite to give O'Brien a second consecutive Triumph success – and this one would be official as Ivanovich Gorbatov officially ran for his father, Aidan – this latest victory was certainly more workmanlike than dazzling.

Indeed, approaching the final flight Barry Geraghty's mount faced a serious threat from the front-running Bapaume, but an untidy leap from the Willie Mullins-trained candidate ensured the race was Landofhopeandglory's to lose. Lose it he did not.
