Fast-track Examiner at Wolves
Examiner will have to overcome the widest draw in the £25,000 Betway Handicap over an extended nine furlongs on Tapeta at Wolverhampton on Saturday.
Examiner (r) is drawn wide at Wolverhampton
The five-year-old is having his first start on the All-Weather since the 2013/14 winter season when he won three of his six starts on Polytrack at Kempton Park and Lingfield Park for William Haggas.
He joined Stuart Williams ahead of the 2015 Flat season and has progressed into a decent performer, with his biggest victory coming in the Investec Mile at Epsom Downs in June.
His two subsequent have seen him finish well down the field in both the Cambridgeshire, in which he was third in 2015, and a 10-furlong handicap at Newbury in October.
Williams said: "Examiner is very well in himself.
"He won nicely at Epsom earlier in the year and I think he has had excuses since then. The ground was too firm for him at Newmarket and then probably too slow at Newbury.
"He has done most of his winning on the All-Weather and I think Saturday's race will suit him. It is just a shame about the draw as that makes it difficult but we will go there and do our best."
Examiner's 12 rivals include old rival Third Time Lucky (Richard Fahey/David Nolan), who was victorious in the 2015 Cambridgeshire.
Nonios (David Simcock/David Probert) got off the mark easily over the course and distance last time out, while Mythical Madness (David O'Meara/Daniel Tudhope) was just touched off by a Keystroke in a class three handicap on November 26.
Sennockian Star (Mark Johnston/John Egan), Georgian Bay (Karl Burke/Jordan Vaughan) and four-time course scorer Solar Deity (Jane Chapple-Hyam/Adam Kirby) also run.
