THE Irish National Stud has welcomed the timely arrival of Quevega's second foal, a colt by Walk In The Park, on Monday just before midnight.

Quevega, a six-time winner of the David Nicholson Mares' Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival, which begins next week, has already produced a filly by Beat Hollow who is now two years old.

Bred by Pierre Rives, the 13-year-old daughter of Robin Des Champs is one of five winners out of the Cap Martin mare Vega IV.

Quevega starter her career in France for Bertrand de Watrigant, who saddled her to win three bumpers in France, before being trained by Willie Mullins for the Hammer And Trowel syndicate.

She won 16 races from 24 starts, having also scored in four renewals of the World Series Hurdle at the Punchestown festival. She also placed second and third in the same Grade 1 contest.

Her win in the World Series Hurdle of 2013 saw her given a career-high Racing Post Racing of 162.

Walk In The Park, famed as the sire of Douvan and Min, stands under the Coolmore National Hunt banner at Grange Stud in County Cork at a private fee.
