Festival plans for Village
Neil Mulholland is keen to give novice chaser Shantou Village one more run before a return trip to the Cheltenham Festival.
Shantou Village will have one more run before Cheltenham
Although the Limpley Stoke handler is yet to decide which route to take with the Grade Two winning hurdler, plans are in place to get him out again before the four-day meeting in March on his return from a winter break.
Having won his first two starts over larger obstacles the six-year-old, who was pulled up when sent off favourite in this year's Albert Bartlett, failed to complete his most recent outing when tipping up at the final fence in a Grade Two at Wincanton last month.
Mulholland said: "Shantou Village was fine after his fall at Wincanton. We haven't done much with him.
"This was the plan to give him a winter break. He is relaxing well and looks great. I feel the break will do him the world of good.
"He will have one more run and then go to Cheltenham. We might just go for a handicap but we will look at handicap and novice options.
"We will keep options open and see how he does over the couple of months off. Hopefully he will come back where we want him."
