Follow The Money: Victory for Mrs Danvers would be no surprise
The lay of the day comes from the 15:45 at Nottingham where the William Haggas trained Mujaamil has drifted from a low of [1.75] to [1.92]. The selection has become increasingly frustrating to follow, having gone off at single figures in each of his three starts, while also being in the top two in the market. He could be forgiven for signs of greenness on debut but his two subsequent runs have seen him finishing one-paced over eight and ten furlongs. A drop back in trip would seem the obvious thing to do but the presence of cheekpieces may indicate he shows a lack of focus during his races. In terms of opposition, the Michael Stoute trained Jantina appears to be going the right way and, in receipt of five pounds, has the conditions to win this race.
This afternoon's win selection comes from Newbury where Mrs Danvers puts her unbeaten record on the line in the Bathwick Tyres St Hugh's Fillies Stakes due off at 15:55. Jonathan Portman's useful two-year-old has been backed from a high of 4.5 into [4.1]. She was a convincing winner of a valuable sprint over course and distance last month when having Stormy Clouds, who opposes her again today, back in second. After progressing in each start of her career to date, it would be of no surprise to see this daughter of Hellvelyn capture a race of this nature. Richard Kingscote is also an eye-catching booking.
Today's each way selection is the talented dual-purpose performer, Intense Tango who runs in the 16:20 at Nottingham. Having been matched at a high of [16.0], she is now as low as [12.5]. Having capitalised on a tumbling flat mark by winning at Musselburgh last week, Karl Burke has turned her out again quickly indicating she takes her races quite well. The very capable claimer Clifford Lee can offset the six pound penalty and looks sure to be bang there on ground which will be to her liking and a trip which she has previously won over.
