CRIQUETTE HEAD-MAAREK takes the wraps off Terre, sister to her dual Arc heroine Treve, at Saint-Cloud on Wednesday.

Originally offered for auction at Arqana, where she failed to reach a €2 million reserve price in August last year, Terre will carry the all-crimson colours of the Head family's Haras du Quesnay and will be partnered by Thierry Jarnet in division two of the Prix Douve.

By coincidence, the race falls a calendar year to the day after Treve left Head-Maarek's Chantilly yard for Sheikh Joaan Al Thani's Haras de Bouquetot, where she is now in foal to Dubawi.

In a year blighted by sickness throughout her string, Head-Maarek has saddled only two individual juvenile winners, though National Defense did land the Group 1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere on Arc day.

Head-Maarek said: "She's ready to run. We've had very few two-year-old runners but she's been working with horses that have run and have won good races so I know more or less where she stands. That doesn't mean she's going to win."

Treve won her only start at two at Longchamp and Terre faces ten unraced rivals over a mile on what is forecast to be very soft ground.

"She looks a lot like her sister – she's been working nicely and should run well," continued Head-Maarek. "I think she'll be okay on soft ground but I'd have preferred good ground for her. You have to remember that all my two-year-olds got sick and they all had to stop."

Division one of the Prix Douve features Canndera, a sister to Candarliya, who finished runner-up to Treve in last season's Prix Vermeille and was retired by her owner-breeder the Aga Khan following her unplaced effort in last Sunday's Prix Royal-Oak.
