WITH a classy performance to surge past his rivals, the Martyn Meade-trained Eminent became the latest winner for freshman sire Frankel when taking out the mile maiden at Newmarket on Thursday.

The juvenile colt hit the front as the race entered the closing stages, and while Alqamar briefly mounted a challenge Eminent pulled clear to win by two and three-quarter lengths.

The second foal out of the winning and Group 1-placed Kingmambo mare You'll Be Mine was bred by Premier Bloodstock. His dam is a half-sister to Group 1 heroine Diamondsandrubies and further back on his page is Irish 1,000 Guineas winner Yesterday.

Offered by Glenvale Stud at Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale last year, Eminent was snapped up by Dermot Farrington for 150,000gns.

Since his first crop has hit the track Frankel, an eight-year-old son of Galileo, has been represented by 12 other winners prior to Eminent's success.

That figure includes Group 2 scorer Queen Kindly, the Group 3-winning pair Fair Eva and Toulifaut, and the Listed scorer Frankuus.
