Funk ruled out of Middle Park

Psychedelic Funk will miss Saturday's Juddmonte Middle Park Stakes at Newmarket after suffering injury during routine exercise on Wednesday morning.

Ger Lyons: Trains Psychedelic Funk

Impressive on his first two starts at Naas before finishing third in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot, the Ger Lyons-trained juvenile was then beaten at odds-on in the Anglesey Stakes at the Curragh.

He stepped up to Group One level for the first time in the National Stakes on Irish Champions Weekend, but finished sixth of the seven runners to leave connections bemused.

Lyons had hoped to get his talented colt back on track on the Rowley Mile this weekend, but he will not be declared.

The County Meath-based trainer might still be represented in the six-furlong contest by Medicine Jack.

Lyons said: "He (Psychedelic Funk) just got injured this morning and pulled up lame. We've been disappointed with his runs and we were blowing him with a view to the Middle Park on Saturday.

"The two of them were going to run but he just pulled up very lame.

"He's gone to Fethard to the hospital. They are hopefully putting a pin in his hind pastern as we speak, so fingers crossed."
