Godolphin duo go for Wales’s

Hawkbill ridden by William Buick wins the Al Rayyan Stakes run during Al Shaqab Lockinge Day

The Godolphin duo of Frontiersman and Hawkbill head a field of seven declared for the Princess of Wales's Arqana Racing Club Stakes at Newmarket on Thursday.

The Charlie Appleby-trained pair were second and third respectively in the Coronation Cup won by Highland Reel at Epsom last month.

John Gosden goes one better with three runners – Muntahaa, Western Hymn and Wings Of Desire – while David Simcock's Algometer and Poet's Word from Sir Michael Stoute's stable complete the septet bidding for Group Two honours.

The three horses withdrawn at the 48-hour final declaration stage were Coral-Eclipse third Desert Encounter, Aidan O'Brien's Johannes Vermeer and the Saeed bin Suroor-trained Tamleek, who is set to run in the Bahrain Trophy on the same card.
