Gold plays down Hanagan report
Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum's racing manager has played down speculation Paul Hanagan is set to be replaced by James Doyle as the owner's retained rider.
Paul Hanagan's position has been the subject of speculation
Doyle's relationship as number one rider for Godolphin trainer Saeed bin Suroor came to an unexpected conclusion earlier this week and a report in Saturday's Sun newspaper suggested he will take over from from former champion Hanagan in the famous blue and white silks at the end of the season, with the Sheikh said to have been unhappy over the ride given to Muntahaa in the Ladbrokes St Leger.
However, the Sheikh's long-standing racing manager Angus Gold reports any such development to be news to him.
He said: "Nothing has been said to me – that's the first I have heard of it this morning."
