Gracious duo star for John Egan

John Egan chalked up a near 282/1 treble at Lingfield highlighted by the victory of the aptly-named Gracious John in the Betway Sprint Handicap.

Gracious John struck under John Egan

The three-year-old showed tremendous speed to dispose of some older rivals despite the steadier of joint top-weight of 9st 9lb.

Egan had the David Evans-trained colt not far off the pace set by Bosham before unleashing him on the home turn with a dashing run on the far rail.

Gracious John (100/30) responded in classy fashion to score by a length from Bosham with Kasbah a head away in third.

"He's a very good horse, he just has a tendency to hang. I was confident going to the start and brought him the other way to get him onto his near fore lead and get him comfortable," Egan told At The Races.

"He's a serious horse and he's tough, like all of David's."

Egan had started the day on the 49-winner mark for the year and reached 50 on Gracious Tom (4/1) for the Evans team in the Selling Stakes.

He then doubled-up on Van Huysen (12/1) for trainer Dominic Ffrench Davis in the Betway Handicap.

Elsewhere on the card, Graham Gibbons was handed a three-day ban for careless riding after steering Heiba to victory in the Download The Betway App Handicap. Gibbons is stood down from December 19-21.
