Gracious John has Irish option
Gracious John could be sent back to Ireland on a recovery mission in the Derrinstown Stud Flying Five Stakes at the Curragh next Sunday.
Gracious John (yellow cap): Could go back to Ireland
The Group Two five-furlong dash is, alongside the Scarbrough Stakes at Doncaster, one of two races under consideration for the David Evans-trained three-year-old.
Gracious John finished a respectable third on his penultimate start at the Curragh but he failed to cope with soft ground at Tipperary when sent off favourite for a Listed contest, in which he came home sixth.
Evans said: "Gracious John hated the soft ground at Tipperary. I knew after a furlong he was struggling to handle it.
"Declan (McDonogh, jockey) got off and said after a furlong and a half he was not acting on it.
"He's a good horse and has filled out so much, but he just can't get his feet out of the soft ground.
"We might look to go to Doncaster with him if the ground is right on Wednesday, but we could also go back over to Ireland for a go at the race at the Curragh."
