Haggas pair primed for France

William Haggas reports Rivet and Sea Of Grace on course for their respective Classic assignments in France next weekend.

Rivet, who rounded off his juvenile campaign with victory in the Racing Post Trophy, kicked off his three-year-old season with a second place behind Eminent in last month's Craven Stakes at Newmarket.

Eminent was not disgraced in finishing sixth in Saturday's Qipco 2000 Guineas on the Rowley Mile and Rivet will get his shot at Classic glory in the French equivalent – the Poule d'Essai des Poulains – at Deauville next Sunday.

Sea Of Grace, formerly trained by John Oxx, managed only fifth place on her debut for Haggas in Newmarket's Nell Gwyn Stakes. The daughter of Born To Sea will attempt to raise her game in the French 1000 Guineas – the Poule d'Essai des Pouliches – on Saturday.

Haggas said: "Rivet goes to France next weekend. The plan has always been that he would go to France provided the race at Newmarket didn't fall apart, which it didn't.

"I have done a bit with him since the Craven and he seems to have come on for it."

"Sea Of Grace also goes to France all being well. She has been fine since the Nell Gwyn."
