FREDDY HEAD introduces a half-brother to his triple Group 1-winning miler Charm Spirit on Tuesday with the Myboycharlie colt Normandy Spirit entered for Chantilly's opening Prix des Daguets at 12.40pm local time (11.40am GMT).

Bred by Ecurie des Monceaux out of the two-time winner L'Enjoleuse, a daughter of Montjeu, Normandy Spirit was offered by the stud at last year's Arqana August Yearling Sale where he was purchased by Head for €220,000.

L'Enjoleuse has been responsible for one winner to date with Normandy Spirit being a half-brother to Sheikh Abdulla bin Khalifa Al Thani's six-time winner Charm Spirit. He won three times at the highest level in the Prix Jean Prat, Prix du Moulin and Queen Elizabeth II Stakes.

Last year L'Enjoleuse produced a colt by Invincible Spirit – a brother to Charm Spirit – who fetched €650,000 at this year's Arqana August Yearling Sale when purchased by David Redvers Bloodstock, and earlier this season the 14-year-old mare foaled a filly by Frankel.

Another graduate of last year's Arqana August Yearling Sale set to debut in the mile contest for unraced two-year-old colts and geldings is Modeste, a Peter Schiergen-trained son of Equiano who was picked up at the auction by Manfred Hofer for €67,000.

Out of the 1m3f scorer Amarinda, a Tiger Hill half-sister to Amazona, winner of a German Group 3 earlier this month, Modeste is a half-brother to the Footstepsinthesand colt Qatar Road who has been successful for Marco Botti over 6f and 7f.

Modeste shares his page with another recent black-type performer as Amarinda is a daughter of the 2004 German Oaks heroine Amarette, a half-sister to the Listed-winning dam of this month's Melbourne Cup hero Almandin.

Half-sister to Group 2 winner Heshem in Chantilly debut

The following 1m Prix des Biches for unraced fillies sees John Hammond unveil Emjolar, a Peintre Celebre half-sister to this season's 1m2f Group 2 Grand Prix de Maisons-Laffitte winner Heshem, at 12.40pm local time (11.40am GMT).

Out of the Stravinsky mare Doohulla, a two-time winner over 6f and third in the 2003 Listed Bosra Sham Fillies' Stakes, Emjolar is a sister to the 1m Group 3 Prix Paul de Moussac scorer Xanadou who has registered four victories over 1m1f in Hong Kong under the name Rainbow Chic.

Doohulla has produced four previous winners with Emjolar, a €45,000 private purchase by Hammond at last year's Arqana August Yearling Sale, also being a half-sister to the Spanish scorers Clunia and Lolita Pluma.

Emjolar's opponents include Ambivalence, a beautifully bred daughter of Invincible Spirit who hails from the outstanding family of Urban Sea, the producer of eight black-type winners including superstars Galileo and Sea The Stars.

Owned and bred by Lady O'Reilly and Baron Edouard de Rothschild, the Henri-Alex Pantall-trained filly is out of the Verglas mare Alpine Snow, winner of the 2009 Listed Prix Urban Sea.

Alpine Snow is dam of two winners to date including this year's Group 3 Prix de Royaumont third Armande, a daughter of Sea The Stars.

Ambivalence is also a sister to the 7f winner Alpine Spirit while her year-younger brother by Invincible Spirit was bought by Sun Bloodstock for €200,000 at this year's Arqana October Yearling Sale.
