Harty weighs up Island plans
Eddie Harty is in no rush to finalise future plans for stable star Coney Island.
There are no definite targets for Coney Island
The six-year-old was an impressive winner of the Drinmore Novice Chase at Fairyhouse at the start of December and was only narrowly denied a Grade One double when touched off by Our Duke in the Neville Hotels Novice Chase at Leopardstown.
Given he has proved effective at the highest level over both two and a half and three miles, connections are not short of options.
Harty said: "Everything is fine and he came out of the race at Christmas well.
"We've not really made a plan for him yet. There's the race in Leopardstown (Flogas Novice Chase, February 12), the Cheltenham races and then Fairyhouse and Punchestown.
"You can't do them all, so we'll sit down and make a plan in a week or so.
"He's speed enough for two and a half miles and you could go three miles with him again.
"He's not one dimensional and all the options are open to him. You can enter him up and make a decision on which way you go closer to the time.
"It would have been nice to win the last day, but he wasn't beaten far and he showed the win in Fairyhouse wasn't an aberration."
Coney Island is a best-priced 12/1 for the RSA Chase at Cheltenham in March and is available at odds of 14-1 for the JLT Novices' Chase at the showpiece fixture.
